In 1985 Founder of Alpha New Life Center, Meredith Kendall found herself in a crisis pregnancy
Even though she was engaged to be married, she was only 18, in college and the first thing the nurse said when she gave Meredith the test results wasn’t congratulations you are going to be a mom. No, it was would you like the number to the abortion clinic.
Thankful for Meredith, she had a very supportive family and fiancé. Their daughter was born just 5 short months after their wedding at a healthy 6 pounds 8 ounces.
Very early in their marriage, they became very involved with the local crisis pregnancy center and even housed a young girl who was given an ultimatum, get out or have an abortion.
Over the years Meredith and her husband Rob were always helping single mothers. In 2003 they even started a ministry to equip single mothers to become all that God created them to be.
In 2019, Meredith was fortunate to work for a maternity home but her love was to always expand the crisis pregnancy portion of the program. In 2020 with the changes that happened to the world, the home decided to focus only on the mothers and children that lived on premises. At that time the only crisis pregnancy center in Cape Coral Florida shut its doors.
Today Cape Coral represents 26% of the population of Lee County and our hope is to be able to bring resources to single mothers not only when they are in a crisis but also as the navigate parenthood in an every changing society.

Serving you, the Single mother
Here are the three main ways Alpha New Life Center will be serving the single mothers of Lee County, primarily in Cape Coral.
Equipping
The 180 Program was written originally as a series of lessons to address the questions and concerns that the moms would ask; “Why am I doing the exact same things that my mom did” or “I continue to repeat the same cycles over and over again”. The women had dreams. They would say “I want to offer a better chance for my kids” and “I really want to go back to school”, but they didn’t know where to begin or have the confidence to work towards their goals. In the fall of 2009, The 180 Program was formalized into a study designed to address the needs of women in a repeatable format.
Empowerment
A group environment to learn has its place and will be utilized but we know that everyone doesn’t learn the same way . At Alpha Life Center we will offer life coaching to the women to help them fulfill their ILP (Individualized Life Plan)
Pregnancy Resource Center
With over 26% of the Lee County Population living in Cape Coral, there is a need for a pregnancy resource center that not only offers pregnancy testing and non-diagnostic ultrasounds but also comes around the mom (and family) to encourage a healthy pregnancy. Alpha New Life Center will also be there as they choose life, even after the birth to help the mom gain the life skills needed to become all that God prepared in advance for her to do with her life.

News from Alpha New Life Center
This was Governor DeSantis’ Facebook post on June 24,2022…
The prayers of millions have been answered. For nearly fifty years, the U.S. Supreme Court has prohibited virtually any meaningful pro-life protection, but this was not grounded in the text, history or structure of the Constitution. By properly interpreting the Constitution, the Dobbs majority has restored the people’s role in our republic and a sense of hope that every life counts.
Florida will continue to defend its recently-enacted pro-life reforms against state court challenges, will work to expand pro-life protections, and will stand for life by promoting adoption, foster care and child welfare.
Isn’t it only fitting that today June 24, 2023 we announce that we have become a legal corporation in the state of Florida and will be opening Alpha New Life Center in Cape Coral in the near future.
God has been laying this on my heart since I worked for a maternity home in 2019-2020. There was a crisis pregnancy center attached to the home and since 2021, Cape Coral has not had a crisis pregnancy center to serve the women here.
Cape Coral, located in Lee County accounts for more than 25% of the population. Fort Myers has 3 known pregnancy resource centers.
Since our move back to SW Florida a year ago, God has been putting the pieces together and the time is now.
This pregnancy resource center will also be a place where all single moms can find hope and healing, not just those who are finding themselves in a crisis pregnancy. The following is a Facebook response when my husband posted that Roe V Wade had been overturned. I want you to hear our heart of doing this similar ministry for almost 20 years in Middle TN.
I’m not surprised that we have different thoughts on this, but thank you for reminding me of the hundreds of women that Meredith and I have served over the years. Girls who lived with us because they were given the choice to have an abortion or be homeless. Young women who ran up to us at community events to introduce us to their “miracle baby” and how we met them right before they were going to have an abortion. The stories we’ve heard about how having that child helped them change their lives for the better. The encouraging stories of young women who have received housing, education and ended generational cycles of abuse, incarceration, addiction and poverty because of the ministry we have done. The kids we’ve seen graduate from high school and college because we’ve helped their families. As far as the barbaric and archaic thought, I’m not sure what is more barbaric than ripping a baby limb from limb inside it’s mother and then leaving the surviving baby in a cold pan to die slowly over then next few minutes or even hours. Or maybe injecting a chemical into a mother, burning the skin and eyes of the baby to the point if death. You’re right, those are pretty barbaric things.
In James 1:27 it says
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
I could go on and on, and I will in future blogs and posts. But here is how you can help today. In order to get started with need seed funds. We have found the most awesome location to house the center. It not only has offices, but a place to do ultrasounds, pregnancy testing and a safe place to talk through what is next. This space also offers a nice classroom where we can offer life skills classes, including parenting, job readiness and a budget class that makes sense to those who are just attempting to get through today.
So what do we need? Prayer… lots and lots of prayer. Not everyone agrees with saving a baby, let alone a family.
Next is money… I really wish I could fund this myself, because asking for money is my least favorite thing to do but.. I was once told that by doing it myself, I first of all don’t get to watch God show off.. and secondly I take away someone else’s joy of giving to an amazing cause.
Thank you for reading and we pray you will be celebrating with us as we walk with moms, who need help and healing.
Blog
$40,000 is our goal by July 15th
When I was working for a maternity home a few years ago, I had a vision for the crisis pregnancy center to be a bigger part of the community with education and empowerment for women who may not have needed a place to stay but needed guidance as she navigated single parenthood or a crisis pregnancy.
Many may not know but since 2021 Cape Coral, even though we have approximately 26% of the population of Lee county, hasn’t had a Pregnancy Resource Center. My vision is to bring one back to Cape Coral.
My background includes starting and running a grassroots nonprofit for almost 20 years to single mothers living in poverty in Middle Tennessee. Even though we closed that chapter, single mothers and crisis pregnancy have always been my heart and God-given passion.
Before we can start helping women, their unborn children and even children they may already have, we need to raise the bare operating expenses which include rent, utilities, insurances and phone service.
We have found a perfect office space to house the ministry in downtown Cape Coral but can’t even think of signing a lease until we have funds or the minimum; commitments for the next 12 months.
We estimate: rent to be $2000/ month phones and internet around $150-200/ month Insurance to run $6000 for the first year ( this would include general liability, E and O and D and O) Utilities (water and garbage are included in the rent at the one office complex we are looking at) so Electric I am guessing would run around $300-$500 As you can see we need to raise around $40,000 a year just to keep the doors open every year but more than that the first year with deposits to leasing companies and utility companies.
We have so many exciting things we want to do to empower single mothers that if I keep going I may never get this blog published.
If you would like more information or meet for coffee please let me know.
We do pray that you would partner with us, Alpha New Life Center, to bring hope and healing to single moms who are currently in a crisis pregnancy or single moms who are just needing a hand up as they navigate single parenthood.
